Fastest GoPro-carrying drone in the world, developed by us for Red Bull, capable of 350kph consistent flight! Built to follow Max Verstappen around Silverstone for 1 complete lap, but very capable for any kind of high speed chasing. Red Bull Drone 1 is a purpose-built FPV platform engineered to follow a Formula 1 car at full race speed for an entire lap. Designed for extreme cinematic tracking, the drone can sustain speeds of 350 km/h while maintaining precise control, long flight duration, and stabilised onboard recordings using a GoPro. Its lightweight carbon structure, custom aerodynamics, and high-performance powertrain make it uniquely capable of operating in the same dynamic envelope as an F1 car—something never achieved before.

Development

The project began in early 2023 when Red Bull challenged us to follow an F1 car for a complete lap—something FPV drones had never done before. Over 1 year of intensive R&D, we optimised every variable, from propulsion and electronics to canopy design, weight distribution, and endurance, pushing sustained FPV flight far beyond existing limits. We even partnered with Red Bull Advanced Technologies to further reduce the weight of the drone using their specialised manufacturing technologies and materials. These parts were made in the same factory as the Red Bull F1 car parts are also made. In September 2023, the drone completed its first historic full-lap chase at Silverstone, successfully tracking a Red Bull F1 car end-to-end. Further refinement led to a second full-speed lap in February 2024, this time chasing the RB20 driven by Max Verstappen, even under wet and windy conditions. These runs proved the drone’s ability to deliver stable, close-proximity footage at unprecedented speeds. After the initial development project and lap with Max Verstappen, we went on to use this drone for other sports, including WRC, MotoGP and even a Wingsuit Basejump world speed record.
